Saturday May 23, 2020...The day Kelly Renee Akers passed away after a 7-month battle with Metastatic Melanoma, being diagnosed less than two weeks of turning 57.
Kelly was born 10-10-1962 in Huntington WV.
Kelly left behind:
Her mother, Patty Cook, ex-husband Chris and two sons by this marriage, Trey and Christopher. She also left behind three sons by a previous marriage, Brandon, Matthew and Dustin Carlton.
Kelly had 9 grandchildren, Sam, Jacob, Isaac, Lucas, Tristan, Gracelynn, Caroline, Noah and Simon Carlton.
Kelly leaves two sisters, Sherry and Shelly, and a brother Shawn....her 2 nieces, Morgan and Amberlee, and too many cousins to count, that will miss her so so very much.
Being the positive woman Kelly always was, she believed things would always turn out for the best! Her Step-father's famous 'Kelly quote' would have to be,
"You give Kelly a pile of crap, and she will make a crap-pie!".
Kelly loved to read, and loved many genres, and she always wanted to know the ending before she would read the book.
She hated surprise endings...so she always read the end first, and if she liked it, THEN she would read it cover to cover.
You can imagine watching a movie with her was a nightmare, since you cannot watch the ending FIRST!
She read her Bible regularly, and in that one she knew that it was written she would be meeting our Father.
She told me, if you live your life right, we will see each other again,
Look up in the sky and we can talk, and
I'll check in on ya from time to time!
Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Akers family and invites you to view and sign the online registry.
