Wilma Ruth (Kernell) Phillips, age 76, loving mother, Mamaw and sister, passed away peacefully on Saturday, April 6, 2024. Wilma had a caring soul; she always put others’ needs before her own. As a nurse for over 30 years, she cared for countless patients that all held a special place in her heart. She was preceded in death by her father, Robert Monroe Kernell and mother, Mildred Underwood Kernell; sisters, Brenda Farmer, and Dorothy (Dottie) Welch; and niece, Karen Phillips. She is survived by her son, Michael (Jessica) Phillips; grandsons, Braden and Colton Phillips; sisters, Sandra Kernell and Harriet Hill; nephews, Jeff (Ginger) Miller, Robert (Tim) Brown, and Darrell Brown; nieces, Amy Oakey, Missy Branam, and Sarah Booker; and several great nieces and nephews. Special thanks to her nephew, Robert Brown, for providing her with the same quality of care she would have afforded her patients.
