Warren Whited
Obituary
Ernest Warren Whited (b. April 24, 1945) died at his home in the Halls community, Knoxville, TN, on April 28, 2023.
A 1963 graduate of Gibbs High School, he attended the University of Tennessee and was an avid UT sports fan (Go Vols!).
Warren was a member of the First Families of Tennessee and a direct descendant of Nicholas Gibbs. During his career he worked in management at Standard Knitting Mill, Signal Apparel, and DeRoyal Industries. Thereafter he dedicated much of his time to rescuing Golden Retrievers with his wife Libby and researching family and Tennessee history with his sister Lynn.
Warren is preceded in death by his parents, Ernest Hubert Whited and Fern Dunn Whited. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Elizabeth “Libby” Rhea Whited, his sister Lynn Whited Pitts, his nieces Jordan Badgett Perelle and Eden Badgett, and his beloved Golden Retriever Charlie.
Warren’s family will commemorate his life privately in Cades Cove. In lieu of flowers, please direct gifts to the Food Pantry of Washington Pike United Methodist Church, where he was a member and attended the John King Sunday School class (2241 Washington Pike, Knoxville, TN 37917 or PO Box 27372 Knoxville, TN 37927).
