Thomas Wiley Doss

“Tom” Wiley Doss passed away on November 5, 2021 at the age of 74, in his hometown of Powell,Tennessee. His battle with serious medical issues in recent years showed his courage in facing life challenges with a smile. Despite the pain, Tom came out a hero and stayed strong until the end.

As Eleanor Roosevelt said, “Many people will walk in and out of your life, but only true friends will leave footprints in your heart.”   This was true of Tom.  He was a loyal friend that believed the simplest pleasures in life bring the most joy. He loved a quiet evening with friends playing card games or attending his church’s events and services.  You could also find him exploring local car shows where he found beauty in classic styles. He had an uncanny ability to find new cars and loved to haggle for the best price. His pleasant personality was contagious to everyone he met. Tom is survived by his wife, Elaine, and new dog, Tucker, along with his stepdaughters, Jeanne Harris and DeAnna (Paul) Elliott and stepgrandchildren, Marley (Junseok) Choi, and Sophia Elliott.

Tom will be honored at a celebration of life at his church home, Trinity Baptist, 7604 Blacks Ferry Road, Knoxville, TN 37931, at 7 PM on November 11, 2021.  His interment will be held at Chattanooga Funeral Home North Chapel and Memorial Gardens, 5401 153 TN, Hixson, TN 37343 at noon on November 12, 2021.
