Stephen Ferguson Obituary

Stephen Scott Ferguson, age 64, passed away on May 24, 2022.

Steve was born in Knoxville, TN on July 31, 1957 and attended West High School.  He graduated from the University of Tennessee where he majored in Mechanical Engineering and played hockey. He worked in the defense industry early in his career before returning to Knoxville as a co-owner of Ferguson Equipment Company.

Steve had an adventurous spirit and loved to travel nationally and abroad.  He enjoyed cooking and dining, fine wine, music of all kinds, and live entertainment. He could also be found outdoors bass fishing or pheasant hunting.

Steve was a member of Fountain City United Methodist Church where he served in many ways.  He was an usher and part of the kitchen crew for Wednesday night dinner and Crisis Recovery.  He volunteered with the Wesley House Grannies and at the Lost Sheep Warehouse.  He was an active member of the Open Door Sunday School Class and enjoyed studying the Bible and history.

Steve married the love of his life, Vicky, in 1995 and raised two beautiful daughters with her. He was a loving husband and father. He opened their world and brought color, fierce love and adventure to their lives.  Steve was also a loyal friend and the consummate gentleman.  He remained kind and gracious even as his disease took its toll on him.

Steve was preceded in death by his father, James V. Ferguson.

He is survived by his loving wife, Vicky Bills Ferguson whom he adored and always made a priority for over 26 years; daughters and sons-in-law: Katy and Patrick Dingess (Nashville, TN) and Calloway and Dalton Searcy (Knoxville, TN); mother, Patricia Ferguson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Jim and Becky Ferguson and Tom and Ronnie Ferguson; along with many nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephew.  Steve was especially thrilled to be "Granddaddy" to Margot Katherine Dingess since February, 2022.

A Celebration of Life Service will take place at Fountain City United Methodist Church on Sunday, May 29th at 3 pm.  Revs. John Gargis and Don Hanshew will officiate.  The family will receive friends in the sanctuary before the service at 2 pm.
