Shelly "Robbins" Hendry

On Sunday, May 23, 2021, Shelley “Leigh” Robbins Hendry, dedicated mother of six children, passed away at the age of 59 due to a tragic car accident. 

Born and raised in Greensboro, NC, Shelley attended Appalachian State University, where she met her husband Jim, whom she married on January 28th, 1984. They went on to attend Pensacola Christian College together for graduate school and Bob Jones University for post graduate work, as well as serving as missionaries to Africa for a year. 

She poured her life into teaching, speaking and mentoring the next generation. She loved God, her family, and her work. Self-titled Friend to Women of All Ages, Shelley’s passions included sharing Christ, the source of her Hope, with everyone she met; taking up time with people overlooked by others; and sharing words of encouragement.    

Shelley was preceded to Heaven by her husband Jim, who passed away from cancer in 2015. She leaves behind her children: Joel, Rebekah, Jonathan, Grace, Nathaniel, and Micah, as well as her brother Sean, and her parents, Joseph Robbins and Jan Brooks. Most importantly, she leaves a legacy to all those who were blessed to know her.  

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 29th at Temple Baptist Church at 4 o’clock p.m. Flowers may be sent directly to Temple Baptist on Saturday. The family has also set up a GoFundMe to help with expenses.
