Ruth Marie (Nelson) Bowers

Mrs. Ruth Marie Nelson Bowers, age 97, of Molena, GA, formerly of Knoxville, TN, passed away May 12, 2022.  She grew up in Nebraska, daughter of the late William David Nelson and Amelia Dorothy Kolling Nelson. Mrs. Bowers met and married Everett Bowers while he was serving in the military and stationed in Nebraska. They made their home in Knoxville.  Mrs. Bowers was a long-time member of Central Baptist Church of Fountain City in Knoxville, where she taught a ladies’ Sunday School class.  She enjoyed reading, playing the piano and sewing.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Everett Scott Bowers, her son, Scott Bowers, and brothers, Lelon Nelson and Paul Nelson.

She is survived by three daughters:  Karen Stinnett of Molena, GA, Linda Bowers of Murfreesboro, TN, and Kim Bowers of Nashville, TN; grandsons: James Stinnett (Robin) and Michael Stinnett (Amy); great-grandchildren: Emma, Ava, Becca, Josh and Miley; a sister: Maraldine Larson of NE; and several nieces and nephews.

Friends may visit the family on Sunday, May 15, 2 p.m. to 4 p.m., at Moody-Daniel Funeral Home in Zebulon, GA.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, May 17, at 11 a.m., in the chapel of Gentry-Griffey Funeral Chapel. A private family graveside service will be held at Greenwood Cemtery.
