Obituary

Ross Wayne Berry, age 64 of Maryville, Tennessee passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023. He was born in Del Rio, Texas in 1959 to the late Bobby Dean and Betty Sue Berry. He received a bachelor's degree in accounting from Northeast LA University in Monroe, LA. He attended Louisiana Tech University where he was a member of the Lambda Chi Fraternity and the campus concert choir. He also studied engineering at LSU in Baton Rouge where he was active in the youth ministry at Chapel on the Campus. Ross served as a police sergeant with the Jennings Police Department in Jennings, LA. In his later career, he was a bank examiner with the Office of Financial Institutions for the state of Louisiana.

Ross was a good Christian man and always joined the choir wherever he and Ann lived. After moving to Maryville, he and Ann attended Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

He enjoyed singing, fishing, playing computer games, and watching movies of all kinds. He enjoyed listening to country, gospel, and 70s music. He loved food, especially Louisiana food.

Ross is survived by wife of almost 40 years, Ann Allgood Berry; son, Sean Berry; brothers, Glenn (Rhonda), Keith (Leah), and Doug (Ila) Berry; brother-in-law, Pepper Allgood; sister-in-law, Marlene Krousel; and other beloved family members.

The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff at Sacred Ground Hospice House for  their wonderful care. They also thank the doctors and nurses at Blount Memorial Hospital, UT Hospital, and Knoxville Rehab Hospital. Special thanks to his Sunday School class at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church.

A private Celebration of Life will be held with Rev. Greg Long officiating the service.

Friends and family who would like to support the Berrys by contributing to the considerable medical expenses Ann has incurred during Ross’s final illnesses may do so at https://gofund.me/3a2beb06.

Ross will be missed dearly by his family. Even in his last days, he was still a jokester and kept on singing for his family and his nurses.
