Ralph Bueckkman, Sr. was born in St. Louis at Lutheran Hospital on July 24, 1928. He attended St. Johns elementary school, Oak Hill elementary school and graduated from Theodore Roosevelt high school in 1946. He attended Junior college for 2 years but did not graduate. He worked for the radio station KFUO in St. Louis from 1954-1958. During that time, he acquired an FCC license to operate broadcast transmitters. In 1955 he moved to Indianapolis, Indiana, and acquired a General class amateur radio license with call sign w9pvr while working at WISH-TV from 1958 - 1962. He moved back to St. Louis after obtaining a job at KSD-TV, which later became KSDK. Moving his amateur radio station to St. Louis, he received the call sign k0yah. He worked at KSD-TV-KSDK from 1962-1995 when he retired. Ralph's hobbies were anything electronic. At one point, he rewired his church's pipe organ while in retirement.
He is proceeded in death by his first wife Ruth Sienknecht Bueckman, his second wife Corine Scott Bueckman, and his stepdaughter Michelle Napier Lovasco. He is survived by his oldest son Ralph Bueckman, Jr. His younger son Randy Bueckman and his stepson Mark Napier. He has six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
