Margaret “Peggy” Ann Troutman Tubbs, born on June 22, 1935 (almost 86 years old), entered the golden gates of Heaven to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on June 9, 2021.
She was known to her grandchildren and many as “GaGa”. Peggy is now with her husband of 67 years, Chad; parents, John & Minnie Troutman; brothers, John, Sam, George, James, Robert (Bob) & Lindy; sisters, Nettie & Kat. Peggy was the baby of 9 children. She died of Alzheimer’s in her home.
All her life she was a vocalist, pianist, floral designer and wedding planner, artist, storyteller, seamstress, Preschool and Junior High Sunday school teacher, VBS leader, decorator-extraordinaire of church & countless school events, and a party planner of many non-profit venues. When she was a little girl, she loved to tap dance and play in the fields with her brothers and sisters. Peggy was a creative designer for Fantasy of Trees for East Tennessee Children’s Hospital for 30 years until she retired. She was also Chair of Chapman Highway Dogwood Trail in South Knoxville for 40 years and served on the Dogwood Leadership Executive Board for 30 years. Peggy was a very active member of Meridian Baptist Church for 83 years serving on multiple mission and decorating committees. Her smile lighted up any room and her love for others touched so many lives.
Dear to her heart always were her two children, Scott and Tammy Tubbs, Julie and Eric Knoefel; her 5 grandchildren, Kenzie Tubbs, Kailen & Mike Zielinski, Kallie Tubbs, Caty & Robbie Fox and Nick Knoefel and one great grandchild, Brooks Robert Fox.
The family will have a private burial. Donations may be made in memory of Peggy to her Passion for many years: East Tennessee Children’s Hospital, c/o Fantasy of Trees, PO Box 15010, Knoxville, TN 37901-501. Fantasy of Trees was so near and dear to Peggy’s heart.
