Margaret Griffey Worley

Knoxville - Margaret Griffey Worley, age 93 of Powell, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by her children on Friday, March 19, 2021.  She was a member of Christ Connection Church Farragut and in recent years attended Fellowship Church.  She was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend.

 Margaret was preceded in death by her son Larry Worley, husband of 57 years, Daniel Worley, parents John and Esther Griffey and brother Richard Griffey.  She is survived by daughter, Gail Kirkendall (Sonny), son, Steve Worley (Karen), grandchildren Landon Kirkendall, Dustin Kirkendall (Lindsey), Sara Deel (Stephen), and Heather White (Kaleb).  She was also the proud great-grandmother to Slayton, Ryker, Ella, Harper, Lola, Annalise, Vivian, Bennett, Hudson, Mia and Mary.  She is also survived by her brother Jerry Griffey, and sister Charlotte Kolbe (Bob).  Margaret will also be missed by her many nieces, nephews and cousins, as well as many special friends.

Margaret's relationship with Jesus was her first love, and after that, her family was the joy of her life.  Being a wife and mother were by far her greatest accomplishments.  She had meticulous organizational skills and until only a few months ago, was able to live alone and keep her home in tip-top shape.  She was also very proud of her 30 years of service as a Nursing Assistant at East Tennessee Children's Hospital.  We know that she changed the lives of those for whom she lovingly cared.

Our family wants to express appreciation for the kindness and respect shown to Margaret by Cindy and Donna at Covenant Home Health Hospice.  Also, a special thank you to her caregivers, Veronica and Anna, who became part of our family in the final days. The family also appreciates her medical providers, Dr. Scott Wilhoite and Dr. Jack Tarr.

The family will receive friends on Monday, March 22 from 5:00 to 6:30 in the chapel of Gentry-Griffey Funeral Home with a service to immediately follow. Family and friends will gather on Tuesday, March 23 for a 1:00p.m. graveside service at Lynnhurst Cemetery. Rev. Sonny Kirkendall officiating.
