Lydia Luisa Cole

Lydia Luisa Cole, age 78 of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Tuesday, April 18, 2023. She was born in Copiague, New York on January 31, 1945. After graduating high school, Lydia went on and earned a Bachelor’s degree in education from the University of Puerto Rico and then a Master’s degree in education from the University of Tennessee. She then spent 37 years teaching in Knox County schools, including Gresham Middle School and Halls High School. Lydia loved the Lord, Jesus Christ and was a member of Black Oak Heights Baptist Church.

Lydia was previously departed by her sister, Edna Baez Cardona.

She leaves behind to cherish her memory husband, James T. Cole; son, James E. Cole; daughter, Cynthia Dowd; son-in-law Jesse Dowd; grandson, Cannon Dowd; granddaughter, Marloh Dowd; sister, Nilda Lowe; brother Jorge Baez.

Her husband, James would like to thank Lydia for their wonderful marriage of 53 years. He loved her with all his heart.

Family and friends will gather at 10:45am on Saturday, April 22, 2023 at Sunset Cemetery (547 Sunset Dr., Madisonville, TN 37354) for an 11:00am graveside service. Doctor Todd Stinnett of Black Oak Height Baptist Church will officiate the service.
