Linda Walter Obituary

Linda Lee Walter passed away peacefully in her sleep at the age of 80 on May 25, 2022, in Knoxville, TN. Born on November 13, 1941, in Inglewood, California to Hugh Lee Walter and Jerrie Abramson, she graduated from Alexander Hamilton High School in Los Angeles and immediately after began her career as a hairdresser in Hollywood.  Her first marriage (1961) was short lived, however her marriage to George S. Nasser, Jr. (1963) lasted 18 years. After her divorce she had a career rebirth in the mid 1980s as a sales representative working for M&M Mars and then Sunworthy Wallcoverings. She retired in the early 2000s.

Linda was a Californian through and through but became a true Southerner in her 40s. She loved Willie Nelson, Barbra Streisand, cooking for her family and friends, sharing recipes, and ordering egg drop soup “with just a dollop of hot and sour.” She wore suede fringed ankle boots and Ciara perfume, played nickel slot machines, collected giraffes, and adored chatting online - she was the first to admit that she was “boy crazy” her entire life. She was known for her wicked zingers. Her tongue could be sharp, but her observations were always delivered with a crooked smile and lilting laughter. She adored her three sons more than words could express, and always greeted loved ones with a “Hi, sweetheart.”

She is survived by her beloved sons Jeffrey, Jason (Sharon), and Jordan (Jan); her grandchildren Matthew (Michelle), Erica (Lee), Robert (Ariana), Nathan, and Nicholas; her great grandchildren Daniel, Cadence, Vanalee, and Kali; her siblings Ronna (Larry), Randel, and Kristina; nieces, nephews, and lifelong friends from coast to coast, including Chelle, Judie, Gail (Steve), and so many more. She is predeceased by her parents Hugh and Jerrie, and her great grandson Sebastian.

The family will be receiving friends at a private residence located at 5404 Yosemite Trail, Knoxville, TN, 37919 on Sunday, June 12, 2022, from 2-4pm. Casual attire. Linda loved patterns and colors.

In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you take a moment to reach out to an elderly relative. Ask how you can help them and tell them how much you love them. Time is fragile, but love is forever. And “Honk if you love Willie Nelson.”

Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Walter family and invites you to view and sign the online registry.
