Kevin Dale Spooner, 66, Sunrise December 14, 1954 and Sunset August 27, 2021. Born to LaVoy and Marie Spooner in Dayton, Ohio. Kevin was raised in Germantown, Ohio where he graduated from Valley View High School in 1973. He made Knoxville, Tennessee his home in 1984. Kevin was a City of Knoxville firefighter for 27 years and retired in 2017 from Station 15 in Fountain City. He operated a local painting business for nearly 30 years and was welcomed into many homes and hearts in the community. He married June (Ohligschlager Garner) on May 26, 1990, and raised two daughters, Olivia and Phoebe.
He was preceded in death by his father, LaVoy Spooner and sister, Sharon "Shoopie" Burks. He is survived by his loving mother, Marie Spooner; his children, Olivia (Jason) Hall and Phoebe (Sam Underwood) Spooner and their mother, June Spooner. Kevin leaves behind siblings, Major General USAF (retired) Richard E. (Tess) Spooner; Pastor Paulette Cummings, LaVoy (Carole) Spooner, John (Pamela) Spooner; and many nephews, nieces and extended family whom he cherished.
Kevin spent his life in awe of and in service to God, serving his family, brothers and sisters in Christ, and a wide circle of dear friends with warm affection and a heart of laughter and quick wit. He radiated a generous spirit that nourished others with love and friendship. Above all, he looked forward with joy to his eternal life with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. His family is grateful for the expert care of the oncology and medical team at Fort Sanders Hospital and the wonderful staff at Sacred Ground Hospice House where he found comfort and tender care in the last days of his journey.
To assist others in their journey and in Kevin’s memory, the family kindly requests donations be made to Sacred Ground Hospice House. In keeping with his wishes, there will be no public funeral service.
