Kenneth E. Irwin 69, of Knoxville, TN a loving husband, father to three children, a beloved brother, and proud “Papaw” passed away on Saturday May 29, 2021, in Knoxville, TN. He is preceded in death by his mother Doris Henderlight, stepfather James David Henderlight, and brothers Eddie and Jeff Henderlight.
On March 13, 1973, he married Bonnie Louise Irwin. They raised two daughters, Patricia (Sissy) and Amber, and one son, Paul. As a seasoned truck driver known on the road as “Oil Can” Kenneth was a jack of all trades who could do just about anything from home improvement to car repairs. His endless love and devotion to family was evident in his relentless care for and loyalty to his wife, children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Kenneth took great joy in ensuring when his family was together, they would enjoy every minute.
He is survived by his devoted wife, Bonnie Irwin; daughters, Patricia ”Sissy” Malone (Chris), and Amber Irwin; son, Paul Irwin (Tracy); grandchildren, Chantel Malone, Breanna Scarborough, Xavier Malone, Ciara Moulden, Victoria “Paige” Irwin, Maci Irwin, Dravon Kelley, and Jayden Irwin; brothers, David Irwin (Mary-Jane), Mike Henderlight (Diane), Steve Henderlight (Judy), Darrell Henderlight (Linda); devoted uncle, Jackie Hammock (Darlene); three great-grandchildren, Kendrick “KJ” Scarborough, Annalise Scarborough, and Ermias Patrick; and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and friends. Special Thanks to devoted friends Randy Thornton, Steve Mays, and Clarence McDowell.
Visitation will be 5:00pm-7:00pm, Friday, June 4 at Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel (5301 Fountain Road Knoxville, TN 37918). A Celebration of Life service to follow at 7:00pm with Pastor James Dunn of Central Church of God officiating.
At conclusion of service family and friends will gather at: Lonsdale United Methodist Church (3002 Galbraith St Knoxville, TN 37921)
