Justin Charles Calhoun, 48, passed away peacefully on October 19, 2023 surrounded by his family.
Justin was born in Jacksonville, Florida. He moved to Tennessee to attend East Tennessee State University where he was a member of the Buccaneer football team. Justin remained in Tennessee and had a long career in the restaurant industry.
Justin was quick-witted and always ready with a comeback or joke for any situation. He was smart, compassionate, stubborn, creative, and kind. He loved his family fiercely, and that included his friends. He enjoyed hiking, camping, reading, singing, playing guitar (at least the beginning of songs), cooking (and making a mess), and spending time with his family and friends. He had an equal love for the ocean and the mountains and always preferred to be outdoors.
Justin was preceded in death by his grandparents; George & Ann (Kinlaw) Frazier and L.C. & Addie Lou (Guinn) Calhoun, as well as his father; Lynn Charles Calhoun.
He is survived by his mother; Ann Christine (Frazier) Calhoun, sister; Rachel Clair (Calhoun) Little, twin brother; Jason Sanford Calhoun (left side, strong side), and nephew; Jacob Aaron Little.
The family is grateful to have been able to honor Justin’s final wish to be an organ and tissue donor. They are hopeful that his gifts will give others the chance to enjoy more time with those they love, and that Justin’s compassion will be paid forward by those he blessed.
Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Calhoun family and invites you to view and sign the online registry.
