Obituary
Joy Marie Jones, 86 years old, passed away peacefully on April 27, 2023. She was born in Waterloo, Iowa on July 12, 1936. She was preceded in death by her parents, Pete and Ethyle Swope, her two brothers, James Swope, and Timothy Swope, Sr., and her youngest son, Barry Hughes. She had recently moved to Knoxville, TN from Kingsville, TX in December 2022 to be closer to her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is survived by her daughters, Connie (Jose) Orta, Kerry (Jack) Beavers and son, Mike (Susan) Hughes. She had 4 grandchildren and 12 great grandchildren. Joy loved reading, updating the family tree, her Red Hats Club, and crocheting. She will be missed by her friends in Kingsville and her extended family in Iowa and Tennessee. There will be a private ceremony in Waterloo, Iowa in July. Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Jones family. Condolences may be left for the family at www.gentrygriffey.com
