John DeRhone Obituary

John Harold DeRhone – 69, was born in 1954 in Moorehead City, North Carolina and passed away on February 4, 2023, in Knoxville, Tennessee.

John proudly served his country in the United States Marine Corps.

He worked at Publix grocery store until he retired and moved to TN. He decided to go back to

work at Sunrise Community of Tennessee, working with adults with intellectual disability.

John enjoyed multiple hobbies including - amateur radio (KE4VIS)- riding motorcycles - hunting- going on vacation-and spending time with his family. John loved to make people laugh, he had a wicked sense of humor.

He was preceded in death by father, Francis DeRhone; mother, Hazel Bateman DeRhone; and 5 sisters, Linda Carrow, Bonnie Sabia, Margaret Carrow, Francis Hodson, and Joyce Skinner.

John is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Lourdes Solla DeRhone; 3 children, Vicky Williams (Jason), Elizabeth Edwards, John DeRhone (Amber); 7 grandchildren, Ethan, Zackary, Kameron, Annabelle, Jade, Lily and Jack; brother, Michael DeRhone (Brenda); sister, Vickie Hoffman (Louie); and close family friend, Andrea Gross.

A celebration of life will be held on April 29, 2023 at 2pm at Big Ridge State Park. Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the DeRhone family. Condolences may be left for the family at www.gentrygriffey.com.
