Jesse Dwayne Horton, age 78 of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away on Saturday, November 6, 2021. Dwayne was born in Washington, North Carolina on January 27, 1943. He was of Baptist faith. Dwayne had a love of fishing and a natural talent that he was able to turn into a career. He became a professional bass fisherman. He fished many tournament trails with many wins over his 25-year career, including winning the 1997 Walmart FLW tournament. He was known for his love of flipping, a technique that he perfected and taught many others. He could always be found on the water or with a fish already on his line. His wife, Bettye and only son, Wayne Horton left this world before him. Those left to cherish his memory include his daughter, Linda Horton (Shane Parker); brother, Charles Horton; granddaughters Celia & Emily Horton; 5 great grandchildren; and many many friends that he loved, including his daily breakfast crew from Krystals and the Cuban Café in Halls. The family will receive friends from 5:00pm6:30pm on Saturday, November 13, 2021, at Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel. A memorial service will follow at 6:30pm with Pastor Byron Chambers officiating.
