Jason Cooper Obituary

The Knoxville music community lost an important member on Wednesday, February 22nd. Jason Cooper was the heart and soul of Rush’s Music for 19 years. Coop was a former member of the University of Tennessee Knoxville’s Pride of the Southland Marching Band. He carried the fervor and passion of music to the band students of East Tennessee and beyond. More than anything, Jason valued his relationships with band directors and music makers who keep the music alive with each new generation of musicians.

Jason is survived by his dogs, Ando and Chani; and family members: Anna Kay Cooper, mother; Jonathan Cooper, brother; Suzannah Cummins, sister; Richard Cooper, uncle; Billie Sue Dilworth, aunt; and best friends Kristin Kolbert and Christina "Redd" Daugherty. Jason was preceded in death by his father, Elbert Cooper;

Jason will leave a big gap in our community and will be sorely missed. Donations can be made in Jason Cooper’s name to The Humane Society of the Tennessee Valley, an organization he was passionate about.
