Janis Rose Obituary

Janis C. Rose, age 74 of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away at home on Monday, June 7, 2021. She was born in Elizabethton, Tennessee on March 18, 1947. After graduating Elizabethton High School, Jan went on to attend East Tennessee State University. For over 20 years, Jan was an office manager for Doctors Williford & Dawson before having to retire due to her health. Jan enjoyed gardening, cooking, baking, calligraphy, seasonal crafting and decorating. She was an active and joyful member of Northside Christian Church for 40 years and served on multiple committees working to decorate the Church, welcome new members, and help with community events. As she aged, Jan had significant health challenges. However, she took delight in reaching out to friends through sending cards with words of encouragement. Jan seemed to always know when those close to her needed to be reminded of how very much, she loved them. Her cards were a way of expressing her caring.

Jan is survived by her husband of 46 years, Jerry Rose; beloved daughter, Crissy Rose; sons, Bryan Forbes (Susan Forbes), Dr. Scott Forbes (Dr. Jennifer Forbes); and grandchildren, Raegan and Matthew Forbes; sister, Jackie Jobe; brother-in-law, Dr. John Rose (Tina) of Louisville, KY, brother-inlaw Jim Rose (Myrta) of New Albany, IN; sisterin-law, Jane Rose Zupetz (Charlie) of Louisville, KY; as well as nieces, nephews and cousins.

The family would like to extend a very special thank you to their wonderful and loving Northside Christian Church family, the caring staff of Covenant Hospice, and Precious Holte caregiver.

The family will receive friends from 5:00-7:00pm on Friday, June 11, 2021 at Northside Christian Church (4008 Tazwell Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918). A service will follow at 7:00pm with Rev. Fritz Haverkamp officiating. Family and friends will meet at 8:45am on Saturday, June 12, 2021 at Greenwood Cemetery (3500 Tazewell Pike, Knoxville 37918) for a 9:00am graveside service.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Northside Christian Church Outreach Program.
