Janice Lee James

Janice Lee Casey James 81, passed away on Friday, May 12, 2023, at Little Creek Nursing Center.

She was the dearly beloved mother of Kim Clancy (Danny) and Dr. Mike Casey (Karyn). She was the unbelievably "cool" Nana to Hannah Clancy, Presley Clancy and Michael Casey.

For many years, she worked in the financial planning and insurance industries. However, her passion and work of choice was in physical education for primary aged students. She was the fun and beloved physical education teacher at St. Joseph School (Knoxville) for many years. She introduced the President's Physical Fitness Program to this school, as well as starting the St. Joseph School (the Bulldogs) track team.

Running a close second to her deep love and devotion to her family was her passion and support for all University of Tennessee (the REAL UT) athletics. She has passed down this love for the VOLS to her children and grandchildren as well!

Janice has positively impacted the lives of all who knew her. She will be truly missed by those left here on earth, but is joining her mother (Janette Black), her father (Joe W. Black), brother (Dr. Joe W. Black, Jr), and brother (Edward Black) in Heaven to live an eternal life.

The graveside service will be held on Saturday, May 20, 2023, at 3pm at Lynnhurst Cemetery 2300 W. Adair Or., Knoxville, TN. 37918.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Young Williams Animal Shelter (Knoxville, TN.).
