James Columbus Greenwell, age 86 of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away in his home on Saturday, November 13, 2021. He was born in McEwen, Tennessee to the late Dewie and Lizzie May Greenwell in 1935. James served his country by joining the United States Army. He then earned his associate’s degree and then went on to be a minister. James was also a member of the Masons.
He is preceded in death by his parents and his son, Ben Greenwell.
He is survived by wife, Evelyn Greenwell; grandchildren, Josh (Rebekah), Sydney and Alexis; brother, Dalton (Patricia) Greenwell; sisters, Sue Brewer and Juanita Clark; and several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the care-team at Amedisys Home Health Care.
The family will have a memorial service at 2:00pm on Sunday, November 21, 2021, at Clapp’s Chapel United Methodist Church. Rev. Kent Curtis, Rev. David Smith, and Rev. Chris Stansfield will officiate the service. The family will greet guests in the fellowship hall after the service.
