Francis “Frank” Joseph Hurley Jr, age 84, of Knoxville, Tennessee passed away Thursday, February 18, 2021.
Frank survived several heart problems and dementia late in his life. He departed this earth after a recent battle with COVID-19.
Frank was a member of Holy Ghost Catholic Church and a graduate of Knoxville Catholic High School. He served his country as a member of the United States Air Force, stationed in Japan. After his honorable discharge, he worked as an electrician in Knoxville his entire working life. Frank was a member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers (IBEW) local 760 in Knoxville.
Frank worked for many years as a Journeyman Electrician for Associated Electrical Contractors. He left his job to begin Hurley Electric where he served as President. Later in his career, he worked for Levi Strauss and Company and eventually retired from JFG Coffee.
Frank is survived by his loving wife, Sandra Garner Hurley; sons, Chris Hurley (Kim Nicley) and Scott Hurley; siblings, Pat Hurley (Threse), Mike Hurley, Danny Hurley, Mary (Gary) Grant and Betty Beck; grandchildren, Charleston “Charley” Hurley, Stephanie (David) McCann, Samantha (Jared Nakardo) Hurley, Conner Hurley and Betty Asha. Frank leaves special nieces and nephews, April Griffeth, Shelby Lequire, Braxton White, Stephen Lequire, Tina (Jason) Edwards and Vernon (Tracey) Steele; numerous other nieces and nephews; sister-in-law, Jane (Wayne) Reed; brother-in-law, Don Edward (Eddie) Garner and also a very special friend and neighbor Dwayne Hammond.
Frank is preceded in death by son, Francis Joseph “Joey” Hurley, III; parents, Mary Angela and Francis Hurley, Sr; siblings, Tony Hurley (Virginia), Bert Hurley, Terry Hurley, Eddie Hurley (Deborah), Veronica Donahue (Tom), Patricia Ross (Bill), and Judy Hurley; mother and father-in-law, Bobbie and Don Garner; brother-in-law, Jim Beck (Betty); sister and brother-in-law, Diane and Carroll Daniels.
A Call at Convenience will be held between 10:30am-4:00pm on Sunday, February 21, 2021 at Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel in Fountain City. Friends and family are invited to drop by during the day to sign the register book.
Flowers and memorials are not requested. Please pray for the family as we respect their desire for privacy following the loss of Frank.
