KNOXVILLE- Elizabeth Sena Taylor Pierce, “Liz, Lizzie, Aunt Liz”, formerly of Seymour
Tennessee, went to be with her heavenly father on Friday, October 13, 2023. She’s been joyously
reunited with her loved ones that predeceased her.
Liz was born in North Georgia as the third child to Velnor and Pauline Taylor. The North
Georgia mountains and the precious memories made there with family is something she held
very close to her heart.
She spent most of her life in Tennessee. A graduate of Knoxville High School (1951), she
attended Knoxville Business College and The University of Tennessee Knoxville. She later
served many years on both the Sevier County Election Board and family council at Island Home
Health and Rehab Facility.
Her family and friends were the center of her world and the love, compassion, and kindness for
them made her who she was. She was a staunch Volunteer fan and enjoyed professional football
and basketball. She loved the holidays and gatherings with family and friends. She also cherished
the time spent with sister, Mildred crafting and traveling to craft fairs.
A devoted wife, daughter, sister, and aunt, she was preceded in death by her husband of 62 years,
Kenneth C. Pierce, Sr. and her infant son, Kenneth C. Pierce Jr.; her parents, four sisters, and two
brothers. She is survived by the love of her life nephew, Steven T. Davis, his wife Trinity, and
their daughter, Lauren Elizabeth, along with several other nieces and nephews.
Special thank you to Toni Harris and husband, Michael Harris for all their love, care and
dedication to Aunt Liz. Thank you also to Bobby Pierce and family and friends for the calls,
visits, and concerns over the years.
To my family, extended family, and dear friends: I had a loving and wonderful life. Remember
the fun and happy times we’ve had together and how much I loved you. Thank you for your
friendship and blessing of being a part of my life’s journey. My prayer is that we will meet again
in heaven.
Liz will be missed, and our hearts will grieve, but we’ll rejoice in knowing that her suffering has
ended. She leaves a legacy of honor, integrity, and love. We’ll dwell on the good memories that
her life has left with us. God keep her and love her as she has loved us.
A private service for family will be held Thursday, October 26, from 2 pm at East Tennessee
Veteran’s Cemetery, Knoxville, Tennessee.
Liz has asked in lieu of flowers, do something nice for an elderly person who lives alone.
Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel and Crematory is honored to serve the Pierce family. Condolence may be left for the family at www.gentrygriffey.com
