Doris Redmon Watts, 85 passed away peacefully, surrounded by family on January 28, 2023, after a short illness. She was born and lived in Asheville, NC for most of her life before moving to Dandridge, TN. Doris enjoyed living on the lake and riding around in the golf cart with her grandson, Eli.
In addition to her parents and two sisters she was preceded in death by her husband, Clyde Watts; and granddaughters, Brandie Ballard and Samantha Crawford.
She is survived by her best friend, Robert Rice; daughters, Rhonda Carter, Lisa Ballard-husband, Robert; daughter, Jamie Price; 7 grandchildren - Sherry Daniel, Jason and Michael Ballard, Chase, Tyler, Natalie and Eli Roberson; 8 great grandchildren - Lindsay Daniel, Nicholas and Aidan Aldrett, Phoenix Crawford, Isabelle Acheson, Leland and Amos Ballard; and great great grandchildren, Christian and Ethan Betancourt and Carter Daniel.
Reading was her passion and she passed it along to her grandchildren. Listening to Elvis was a big part of her and you could expect to hear it often. She loved telling the story about Elvis whistling at her in downtown Asheville. Anything 5O's - Poodle skirts, bobby socks, The Fonz. She loved it all. Playing Candy Crush kept her sharp and she was ranked in the top 100. Lottery tickets and scratch offs were a hobby. Biscuits and gravy, potato salad, her secret ingredient banana pudding and old-fashioned fudge will be missed.
A graveside memorial service will be held at Gashes Creek Cemetery in Asheville, NC Sunday, February 5, 2023 at 3:00 PM. Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel and Crematory is honored to serve the Watts family. Condolences may be left for the family at www.gentrygriffey.com
