Della Loretta Brown, 70, went home to the Lord on November 23rd 2021 in Knoxville, Tennessee.
She was born September 29, 1951 in South Bend, Indiana to Jack and Dorothy Brogdon. Della met the man she immediately declared she would marry when she was 12 years old. Marry him she did, just as soon as she turned 18. Della and her husband, David L. Brown, Sr. went on over the next 59 years and raised two sons, David and Johnathan.
Della loved her family dearly, caring for her bed-ridden mother for many years prior to her passing and doing the same for her father in his final years. She also volunteered extensively to the Children’s Hospital in Knoxville as well as being a faithful and active member of several churches during her life.
Della was faithful to her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, to her church, to her family and to her neighbors. Not only did she raise her sons, but she unofficially adopted a few more along the way. If Della heard of someone in need, she would do whatever she could to fulfill that need. Many were the days where what little she had was made to stretch to share with one less fortunate.
Della was preceded in death by her father, Rev. Jack Brogdon Sr.; mother, Dorothy Jane Brogdon; and niece, Melissa Jane Brogdon Pack.
She is survived by her Husband, David of Knoxville; sons, Johnathan of Knoxville, David and wife Rhonda of Oak Ridge; four grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Also her brothers, Jack Brogdon and wife Loretta; David Brogdon of Knoxville; sister, Glenda Soblotne of Knoxville; and a host of cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.
We especially thank her Sunday School teacher, Judy Tate and class at Black Oak Heights for their loving kindness shown her over the past several years. Our many thanks to the congregation and Pastor Todd Stinnett at Black Oak Heights and to Ashley of Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel & Crematory.
Della Brown was much loved, much liked, and will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
