Carolyn Shipley Sheddan - age 85, passed away Tuesday, September 13, 2022. Carolyn was born in Hamblin County Tennessee.
Carolyn received her bachelor and master's degrees in business from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. She had a passion for business administration and was an administrative secretary to several university officials. Carolyn was a life-long educator at both the college and high school levels. She taught computer literacy, data entry, word processing, typewriting, and shorthand in addition to many other business classes. She was an assistant professor at the UT College of Business and at Western Carolina University. She was an instructor and supervisor for Anderson County Center for Occupational Development. At the time of her retirement, she was assistant to the commissioner of the Tennessee Department of Human Services. Outside of business, Carolyn loved to play the piano, dance and play tennis and enjoyed the social opportunities they gave her.
Carolyn was preceded in death by her father, Reuben Robert Shipley; sister, Emmie Shipley Leakey; and mother, Love Parvin Shipley Mynatt.
She is survived by sons, Brent, Greg and wife, Karen, and Matt; grandchildren, Laci, Elaine, Parker, Kalyn, and Jolie; niece, Jill Root and husband, Bud Root and several cousins.
