Benny Earl Walker

Benny Earl Walker age 86 of Knoxville, Tennessee went to be with his Lord and Savior on April 28, 2023. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Lenoir City. He graduated from Fulton High School, attended Hiawassee College, and served in the United States Air Force in the 6981st Security Service Elemdorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska.

Benny was a Tennessee State Trooper and was the youngest trooper to be promoted to the rank of Lieutenant. Later he was a process server for the Knox County Sherriff’s Department. Then he opened his own business, Knox County Process Service and later opened TPS Services and served court papers as a private process server for the courts.

Benny was a member of the Kiwanis, Tennessee Retired Troopers Association, and Association of State Troopers. He was a TSSAA umpire for football, basketball, and baseball for twenty-four years and a coach for recreation teams in Knox County.

He was preceded in death by wife, Tommie Louise Reno Walker; parents, James Ellis Walker and Grace Elizabeth Price Walker; brother Jack Henderson Walker.

Benny is survived by sons, Joseph Earl Walker (wife Pamela), Benjamin Andrew Walker (wife Angela), and Rev. John Franklin Walker (wife Anne); eight grandchildren; two step grandchildren; 3 great grandchildren; and sister-in-law, Pat Walker.

In lieu of flowers, donations should be made to First Baptist Church of Lenoir City c/o CMN Africa Missions.

Friends and family will gather at 10:45am on Saturday, May 13, 2023 at Greenwood Cemetery for an 11:00am graveside service with military honors. Rev. John Walker and Rev. John Hunn will officiate the service.
