Andrew “Colt” Sowders December 1, 1986 - January 1, 2021 Andrew “Colt” Sowders passed away on Friday January 1, 2021 at the age of 34 due to complication from pneumonia. Colt enjoyed spending time with people and experienced much through his loving family and the great friendships he developed over the years. Colt attended meetings at the East Congregation of Jehovahs Witnesses. Through his life he enjoyed family gatherings, friends, traveling, Camp Koinonia, Challenger Sports of Knoxville and Special Olympics. Preceded in death by grandparents Andrew Gettelfinger Sr., Frances “Chickie” Gettelfinger, and William ”Bill” Sowders. Survivors include mother and stepfather Sandra, Paul Mercandetti, father Gary Sowders, grandmother Gloria Conners, live in care giver and adopted family Stephanie, John, Andrew DeVault, stepbrothers Christopher, Michael, Richard Mercandetti, stepsister Lia Farrow, and the many uncles, aunts, cousins from the Gettelfinger, Sowders, and Mercandetti families. Colt’s family would like to extend deep and heartfelt thanks to the many caregivers and nurses past and present, that have aided Colt during his life, with a special thanks to current staff Stephanie, Ebony, Jamie and Jeffrey. He received services from Compassionate Care, Sertoma Center, Maxium, and in the past Cerebral Palsy Center and many others. Your dedication and love truly enhanced Colt’s life and for that his family is deeply grateful. There will be a virtual Memorial Program via Zoom video conferencing on Saturday January 23, 2021. It will include a personal receiving of friends and viewing photos starting at 1:00pm with a Memorial talk to follow at 2:00pm.
