William D Hall (Sign Guestbook)

William (Bill) D. Hall, age 77, died at home on November 29, 2018. He was a Chief Petty Officer retired from the US Navy. He also retired from the U.S. Postal Service in 2001. Bill was an avid Case Knife Collector for 59 years. Pap was a loving husband, wonderful father, and a proud, amazing grandfather.

He was preceded in death by his parents, William and Margaret. He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Linda M. Hall of Corryton; daughter, Cherie Hall; sons, William “Buz” Hall Jr. (Lori), and Steve Hall (Kristi); sisters, Martha Staton and Joyce Cothran; eight grandchildren, Joshua Daniels (Lisa), Michelle Mills (Jason), Shayne Daniels (Felicia), Lindsay Moore (Erick), Erik Hall (Tara), Madilyn Reagan (Cody), Kalli Livesay (Jordan), and Davey Hall (Amie); 21 great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends Tuesday, December 4th from 5-7 pm at Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel with a service to follow. A military burial service will be held Wednesday, December 5th at 11:30 am at the East Tennessee Veteran’s Cemetery.     Bill and Linda are kind, and fun people. Linda we are sorry for your loss and our hearts are with you and your children, grandchildren and friends as you send Bill off to his next chapter. He will be missed and I hope your memories will keep Bill alive in your hearts.

    So very sorry. He was raised up being called Delton,on Slater mill village.we had a great time growing up.I remember we would go to my grandmas house for lunch and they go to his aunts and eat lunch again. We were in the same classroom during school for all 12 years. During the textile basketball tournament his daddy would get us out of school to with him. The tournament was so big some games started at 9 a.m.we would stay all day. I will sorely miss him. As he was a friend for our whole lives.

    Dear Linda and Hall family. So saddened to hear of Bill’s passing. I’m proud to have been part of the family since I was 19. I remember Bill spreading his knives out on the picnic table in the backyard at Mom and Pops house on Renssalear back then. Lots of great family gatherings and always lots of laughter.
    You are all in my thoughts and prayers.
