Roberta “Bobbie” Sterling Sharp (Sign Guestbook)

Roberta “Bobbie” Sterling Sharp. 95, of Knoxville, passed away October 27, 2019.  She was the oldest of six children born in Knoxville to Robert A. & Willie Mae Sterling on November 23, 1923.

Roberta attended Central High School, Home of the Bobcats, and then attended University of Tennessee, working in the Math Department.  She loved herb gardening, traveling and UT Football.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert A. & Willie Mae Sterling; husband, William C. Sharp, Jr.  Bobbie is survived by her daughter, Susan Crutcher (Kenneth); son, William S Sharp; siblings, Jack Sterling, Nancy Austin, Sue Green, Jim Sterling (Jean) and Betty Dougherty (James); granddaughters, Brittany Crutcher Bunn (Joshua) and Emily Crutcher; and many nieces, nephews and dear friends.

Family will receive friends Friday, Nov. 1, 2019 from 12:00pm-2:00pm with a 2:00pm service at Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel, Knoxville.  Interment will be held at Andersonville Cemetery following the service. Donations may be made to the Alzheimer’s Foundation.

    I will always remember Aunt Bobbie’s smile, laughter and easy-going manner that made people feel comfortable around her. She was also playful and we shared joyful excursions through her beloved Museum of the Appalachias, where she had worked. In fact, I still have a turkey feather from one of our trips. Thank you, Aunt Bobbie, for being a bright light for us all. I love you.

    I’m so sorry you’ve lost dear Bobbie. What a close and special friend she and WC were to Mom, Dad and me all those years. A friendship going back to the 1930’s I imagine!
    I remember Bobbie as a patient and supportive friend, gracious hostess, creative gardener and such a fun person to be with. Her sense of humor and warm, accepting personality always brightened the day.
    I know you’ll miss her so and you all are in our prayers.
