Robert L. Spahr (Sign Guestbook)

Robert L. Spahr, age 100 of Knoxville, TN passed away Thursday, August 1, 2019. surrounded by family. He was a long time member of Fountain City United Methodist Church.

Bob was a WWII veteran with the 1081st Signal Corps. He stayed close friends with his Army Air Corps buddies for many years. Bob worked for South Central Bell for 42 years and, once retired, volunteered for a number of charities and community programs. He had a zest for living, a love of life, his church, and his family. He had a special connection with his Sunday School Class who always stayed in touch even when Bob could no longer physically attend services. The family would like to thank the dedicated caregivers who helped during his later years. Love and thanks to Carole Sanders, Leesa Black, Raeleen Woodbury, Debbie Mynatt, and Claudette Campbell. Special thanks to the wonderful staff at Northside YMCA who celebrated with Bob on his daily half mile swims and his Birthday one mile swims. Thanks also to the exceptional medical staff at Parkwest Hospital who treated him and his family with care and dignity.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Bob’s memory to Fountain City United Methodist Church (212 Hotel Road, Knoxville,TN 37918), Second Harvest (136 Harvest Lane, Maryville, TN 37801), and Northside YMCA (7609 Maynardville Pike, Knoxville, TN 37938). He would be honored.

Robert is preceded in death by his parents Harold and Mary Spahr; sister Elizabeth Spahr Jenkins; brothers Harold Graham Spahr and David K. Spahr.

He is survived by his loving wife of 75 years Louise W. Spahr; son Robert Alan (Rita) Spahr; daughters Donna (Ed) Rehorn, Cheryl (Dennis) Dow and Marilyn Spahr (Wayne Easterday); Five grandchildren, Twelve great grandchildren and One great great grandchild.

Graveside service will be held at 1:00pm Sunday August 4, 2019 at Greenwood Cemetery. A Celebration of  Life will be held following the graveside 3:00pm at Fountain City United Methodist Church, 212 Hotel Avenue, Knoxville 37918.
