Nathaniel Keith Smith (Sign Guestbook)

On June 9th, 2019, after a courageous and valiant battle, warrior Nathaniel Smith said goodbye to his warrior princess Cera Smith, and set off on his next, greatest adventure.

Nathaniel is survived first and foremost by his beautiful and fierce wife and best friend Cera Smith; his mother and stepfather Stephanie and Mark Best, his father and stepmother Dennis and Kaye Smith, mother-in-law Kandie Arnold (Carlo),and his sister Lonni Smith (Brandon), sister Angela Smith, brother-in-law Austin Arnold (Morgan), and sister-in-law Emmalee Arnold,

Grandparents Ramona St. James, Peggy Smith, Beverly Thacker, Diane Nolan, and Richard Farmer, and Aunts and Uncles Robyn, Brent & Janie, Heather & Ken, Tony,  Adam, Amber, Casey, Tyler & Samantha, and Edward & Sandy, and cousins Andrea & Josh, Hayden, Joel & Ryan, Addison & Harper, Joseph & Olivia, Alexis & Leyton, Colton & Zander, Aura & Blaine, and Matthew & Marin, Preceded in death by grandparents Joseph Nolan, Adam St. James, Robert & Mary Ellen Best, and Uncle Kiki, Aunt Anita, and Uncle Teewee

Having no children of his own, one of Nathaniel’s favorite titles was “Uncle”, and he leaves behind niece (and Goddaughter) Ella Dailey, nieces Finlee Uden and Marcella Arnold, and nephew Jaxon Uden

Nathaniel’s family wants to thank all the doctors and nurses and support staff, in Knoxville and Nashville, who aided him in his battles these last years. They are too numerous to name, although Nathaniel could have named every single one of you. He appreciated everyone, from oncologists to the people who cleaned his hospital rooms. A special mention to Dr. David Aljadir, who was with Nathaniel from the beginning of this journey. Somewhere along the line, Dave stopped being his doctor and became his friend.

Family and friends are invited to the Gentry Griffey Funeral Home on Friday, June14th, from 6PM to 8PM, with a celebration of life service at 8PM. This will not be a solemn occasion. In life, Nathaniel did not want tears shed for him, and we will do our best to still honor that wish. Dress code is casual and comfortable, with nerd shirts celebrating gaming, movies and television encouraged. Cosplay accepted. Anything that Nathaniel would appreciate.

In lieu of flowers, Cera and Nathaniel would prefer donations in his name be made to The Humane Society Of The Tennessee Valley.

Cera has decided that Nathaniel will be cremated, and his remains will be returned to the earth, so the tree he nourishes, like him, will be a source of strength forever.

Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Smith family and invites you to view and sign the online registry below.

May you all claim and hold on to His promises here and let His gentleness , His humble heart give you the rest you need and the knowing that Nathaniel is finally experiencing that rest, joyfully, in the presence of Jesus. You are all in my prayers.
