Nathan Isaac Melendez (Sign Guestbook)

Nathan Isaac Melendez went to be with the Lord, peacefully and surrounded by family, on September 6, 2018.  Nathan’s final days were spent with visits from many of the friends he had touched throughout his memorable life.

Nathan’s time on Earth was short in quantity, but he showed those he loved — and who loved him in return — that the true measure of a person’s life is found in the joyful memories they leave behind. His contagious laugh, charming smile, and fierce loyalty brought constant light to those blessed to be in his life.

As Nathan played baseball from middle school and into Eastwood High School in El Paso, Texas, he began a lifelong love affair with sports. But as a gifted listener, Nathan loved quality time spent laughing with friends and family most of all. His strength in the end gave us all courage and hope — and reminded us of the preciousness of life.

Nathan is survived by his loving parents, Anita Henshaw of Knoxville, TN, and Frank Melendez of El Paso, TX, along with his sisters, Desire Melendez and Sharon Lacy, maternal grandfather Bob Henshaw, aunt Deborah Henshaw Urbanski, uncle Robert Henshaw, niece Anastasia Melendez, nephew Isaac Melendez, and cousin April Henshaw.

Celebration of life memorial services will be held at Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel at 5301 Fountain Road in Knoxville, TN, on September 17, 2018. Visitation hours will be from 4 – 6pm, with the memorial service to follow. A secondary service has been tentatively set for his birthday, October 8, 2018, in El Paso, TX, with details forthcoming.
