Linda Murray Littleton (Sign Guestbook)

Linda Murray Littleton, 69, of Talbott, Tennessee, passed away December 21, 2018, The Longest Night, after a long battle with dementia. Though her battle became darker and darker, she now may walk in the brightness of her Savior.

Born in Oak Ridge on December 16, 1949, she was raised in Kingston, Tennessee, where she met the love of her life, Charles David Littleton. After spending time in Tennessee, Virginia, Georgia, Pennsylvania, North Carolina, Texas, and Kentucky, she lived the last sixteen years of her life in Talbott.

Though she worked as a substitute teacher for the Hamilton County (TN) and Athens City (TN) school districts and as a Head Start teacher and director in McMinn and Meigs counties, her primary calling was as a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved her family fiercely and fully, and she was beloved not only by her own family and friends but also countless friends of her children. She was an active member of each community she lived in, and she was a dedicated member of Talbott Cumberland Presbyterian Church.

She was preceded in death by her parents, James C. Murray, Sr. and Ann Samples Murray, and her sister, Judith Ann Murray.

Her survivors include her husband of 50 years, David; her sons Todd (Tonia) Littleton of Talbott and Chad (Rebecca) Littleton of Chattanooga; daughter Lisa (Nick) Deal of Knoxville; brother James C. (Mary) Murray, Jr. of Monument, Colorado; grandchildren Erica and Robert Littleton, Anna and Nathan Deal, and Tara Mize; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives.

A memorial service will be held January 3, 2019 at Talbott Cumberland Presbyterian Church with receiving of friends at 6 pm and service at 7 pm. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to ALPS Adult Day Services, 600 N Daisy St, Morristown, TN 37814. The family would like to thank the caretakers at Lighthouse at Trinity Hills for their excellent care during the last weeks of her life.     Linda was a dear friend to me growing up as we attended the same church and high school. Loved spending the night as a young girl at the Murray home. It was always so fun! I will always treasure those sweet memories and keep them in my heart. Love to David and the children. May God comfort you in this time of sorrow.
