Patty S. Slaton (Sign Guestbook)

 Patty Sue Heady Slaton, age 78, passed away at home on September 1, 2017.  Patty was the Matriarch of her family. She was a loving & devoted wife, mother, grandmother and GREAT grandmother (AKA Mimi) to the lights of her life her 6 GREAT grandchildren.

Everyone that knew her loved Patty, she gave a hand up, and fresh start to so many. Many people foster pets, Patty and Don rescued and fostered people. Patty was a hard worker; she helped shatter the glass ceiling by becoming the first female Produce Manager at KASH & KARRY grocery store in Florida, where she later retired.  Patty sacrificed so much for her family, she would do without so they didn’t have to. She was very active in all of their lives, family meant EVERYTHING to her. She was a strong Christian, very creative, could make, do, or build anything, loved Nascar, and especially Jeff Gordon.

Patty was preceded in death by the love of her life Don, they were married 61 years; her beloved oldest daughter Donna Lynn; 3 of her 6 brothers, George “Shorty Dean”, Donald Elwood, and William “Bill”; her parents Pearl Andrew “Ole Buddy”, and Vera Jean Atwood.

Patty was survived by daughter, Gayle and her husband Tony; five grandchildren, Tishia (husband Brad), Mark, Brian (wife Tabitha), Anthony, & Drew Allen (Fiancé Michelle); six GREAT-grandchildren, Ethan, Faith, Corbin, Brooklynn, Bella, and Peyton (AKA Peytie Pie); three brothers & six sister-in-laws; a gaggle of nieces, nephews & other extended family and dear friends.

Graveside service will be held at East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery on John Sevier Highway, on Tuesday, September 12 at 11:30am. In lieu of flowers please consider a donation to The Salvation Army in her memory.     I am at peace knowing my Mother is at Peace. Mom wanted to stay with us, but she wanted to be with The Lord, Daddy and Donna Lynn more. I love and miss her very much.
