Norman D. Green (Sign Guestbook)

Norman (Norm) Duane Green, 74, of Strawberry Plains, died unexpectedly, Tuesday February 28, 2017.

Norm was born January 12, 1943 in Lansing Michigan, and was the oldest son of the late William and Sarah Green.

After graduating from Escondido High School in California, he joined the Air Force, serving during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He worked for the Poway Unified School District as the manager of their printing department for 25 years. While working here, he met and married his loving wife, Nancy. After he retired, he and Nancy spent many years on the road, living in their 5th wheel, exploring 48 of the 50 states. He loved to fish, hunt, metal detect, travel, camp and explore and he passed on those interests to his children. He was always active and coached Little League for many years (even his grandson’s), played softball and bowled.

He leaves behind his wife of almost 40 years, Nancy (Becker) Green; children, John Green and Michelle (Chris) Barbano; step-children, Carol Thomas and Richard (Lara) Blaisdell, Jr; beloved grandchildren, Andrea Lee, Lisa and Thomas Barbano, Brody Blaisdell and Virginia Thomas; step- grandchildren, Grace, Carlos, Marco and Alexander; great-grandchildren, Layla, Marley and Zeppelin; siblings, Margaret Baker, Janis (John) Huntermer and Bill (Vickie) Green; step-siblings, Debbie Bailey, Scott (Carol) Finfrock and Jane (Manny) Rivas; sister-in-law, Virginia (Tom) Kohlmann; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews. He loved this family and their time spent together.

Norm loved the Lord, his family and his many friends, which include his Lyons Creek Church family, who were always there with a kind word and a prayer. He was a great Husband, Father, Papa, Brother, Friend and so much more. He was an example of honesty, integrity and faithfulness and will be greatly missed by all.

Norm’s Military funeral will be held Friday, June 2nd at 2:00pm at the East Tennessee State Veterans Cemetery, 2200 E. John Sevier Hwy, Knoxville, TN. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Lyons Creek Baptist Church in his name. Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Green family and invites you to view and sign their online guestbook below.

Nancy l was so sad to here about Norm. It’s been to long that we have talked and seen each other. Our work family’s have had so much Joy and Love together. All the Company Picnics and Weddings. I still remember Charlie bringing everyone that was working out of town back to San Diego so we would be present at your Wedding to Norm! One of my favorite moments with Norm was when went to Otay Lakes camp grounds. While we were fishing there Norm caught a fresh water Bass weighting just over 10 lbs. So I said to Norm you have to take my picture so I can tease Roy Row about the big fish I caught from shore. If you rember Roy had his own fresh water boat and lots of fishing gear. He had never caught a fish that big. So when he say that picture on the wall by the Lab he became very quiet for days! Ha Ha!! Well know that Marian and I send all our Love to you and your Family! Love Ya Roy and Marian McDaniel (aka Fuzzy)
