Jimmie B. Harper (Sign Guestbook)

Jimmie “Red” Blair Harper made his journey from this life to eternity on Wednesday, November29, 2017. Jim, a veteran who loved his country, returned to Knoxville when he got out of the army and married Shirley Harper, with whom he happily shared the next 58 years. Jim worked at AJ Metler for many decades to provide for his family. Jim’s legacy did not end with death. His immeasurable love for his family was an incredible gift to his wife, children and grandchildren. Jim loved Shirley’s cooking, playing with his grandchildren and telling fun stories of days gone by. Those who made the journey before him were his parents, Bruce and Reba; sisters, Jackie and Helen; and brothers, John and Max. He is survived by brothers Bill and Chester. He is also survived by his wife, Shirley; daughter Penny Ogle (James Sams); sons Dewayne (Angie) Harper, Eric (Carla) Harper; 13 grandchildren and a host of other family and friends. The family will receive friends 3:00-4:30PM on Sunday, Dec 3rd at West Lonsdale Baptist Church with a Memorial Service immediately following. Family requests in lieu of flowers to perform an act of kindness in Jim’s memory. Gentry Griffey Funeral Chapel is honored to serve the Harper family and invites you to view and sign their online guestbook below.
