Floyd G. Owens (Sign Guestbook)

Floyd G. Owens, 2/19/1925 – 5/11/2018, was  a lifelong resident of Knoxville, TN.

Floyd was a faithful member of Fountain City United Methodist Church and a member of the Christian Homebuilders Sunday School class.  He was also a member of Scottish Rite Masters Lodge 244 and served as the Worthy Patron of the Areme Chapter of Eastern Star 466. He joined the US Navy and served aboard the destroyer escort USS Mitchell in the Pacific during World War II. Floyd was a master brick mason and retired after 40 years of service from Johnson & Gaylon Construction.

Floyd is peceded in death by parents William and Minnie Lee Owens; brothers Raymond, Dave, and Lonas; and sister Effie Welch.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Evelyn Owens; son Ed (Joanne) Owens, granddaughter Allison (Dan)Lore; great grandsons Jackson and Spencer Lore.

The family would like to thank the staff of Generations Memory Care at the Pointe, as well as, Jennifer and the Amedisys Hospice staff for their wonderful care of Floyd.

Floyd’s family will receive friends Wednesday May 16, 2018 from 5:00pm – 7:00pm at Fountain City United Methodist Church, 212 Hotel Road, Knoxville, TN 37918, and a Graveside service will be held Thursday May 17, 2018 11:00am at Greenwood Cemetery 3500 Old Tazewell Pike, Knoxville, TN 37918. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials to be made to Fountain City United Methodist Church’s Bell and Chancel Choir Programs.
